Web Novel-Based Korean Live-Action Series Dear Hongrang Premieres on Netflix on May 16
Netflix announced on April 30 that the web novel-based mystery romance series Dear Hongrang will premiere on May 16. The service has released an official English-subtitled trailer and a poster.Set in the Joseon Dynasty, the series follows Hongrang (played by Jaewook Lee), the long-lost son of the kingdom's largest merchant family, who returns home after disappearing for 12 years with no memory of his past. While his return is welcomed by many, his half-sister Jae-yi (played by Bo-ah Cho) is the only one who suspects something is not quite right. As the mystery of Hongrang's true identity unfolds, an unexpected and complicated emotional connection grows between the two. Dear Hongrang was initially written by Da-hye Chang as a web novel, and artist Hoddu adapted it into the webtoon of the same name.While an English version of the web novel is not available, fans can read the webtoon on Manta.Source: Xports News (Soo-yeon Hwang)
