95/100Mappa's Magnum Opus and a perfect conclusion that solidifies AOT in the history books. (non-spoiler)Continue on AniList__My Review immediately after watching the episode__ Attack on Titan got me back into anime in 2020. I remember binging the show off the recommendation of my younger brother (who doesn't watch anime anymore) in the leadup to season 4, and the entire story intrigued me. And by the time season 4 did finish airing, i went straight to read the entire manga, up to this exact point in the story, so i was there first hand seeing all the talk when that final chapter did release in June 2021. Was i worried that 'The Battle of Heaven and Earth' would not live up to expectations? Yeah of course.
But I was proven wrong.
__Story and Pacing__ I will not include any spoilers for anyone who is anime-only.
Its a well-done adaptation of the final chapters of Isayama's manga. From the action, to the serious moments, to the moments and scenes that you remember the most, all were well thought out and executed to their best.
A personal expectation for me was if they could get 'The Cliff' scene right, and it was executed to perfection. From the black and white colours, to the cries of the baby isolated in a life and death situation, all merged into a scene that made me shed a tear. I felt the hopelessness that was exerted in that moment.
The pacing is well-done as well. It doesn't feel like things were being rushed, but it was at that pace where you felt like the characters, where they are running out of time. Even when it cuts to the flashbacks and scenes away from the battle, they come at precise moments where it doesnt detract from the moment.
__Animation and CGI__ Its MAPPA, what else did you expect from the animation.
Even the CGI felt smooth. All the jankiness feen in the earlier parts of season 4 are gone, and it doesn't take you away from the experience.
It makes me wonder, with how good Toei's CG was for the Dragon Ball and Slam Dunk movies in 2022, and the CG in the latter half of AOT Season 4, is CGI now at a point where the top anime studios can use it to good use?? That's a question to be answered another time.
There were only a few moments where the faces looked off, but it may be a result of the angles of the scene/ being a faithful adaptation of the manga, But those are few and far between from a stunning 1hr 25mins.
__OST__ The AOT soundtrack always sticks out as one of the best in the Anime medium, and Kohta Yamamoto strikes again with another collection of classics. From the battles, to the quiet moments, they all fit perfectly.
__Characters and Voice Acting__ Its what you expect from this cast of talented VA's, so its perfect.
All the characters are perfect as well. Some may have issue's with Eren's character in this episode (IYKYK), but that doesnt detract from the overall product, and for me, doesnt ruin this ending at all.
__Final Thoughts__ Dragon Ball, Berserk, Pokémon, Sailor Moon, One Piece, Slam Dunk. All these greats are what made anime and manga what it is today, with a legacy that will last the test of time. And i can now say, we can add Shingeki no Kyojin to this list and now say we will look fondly on this series, as a time where we witnessed one of the greatest stories ever told, in real time.

80/100A perfect adaptation, adapting a satisfactory conclusion... Well, I guess it could've been worseContinue on AniListAttack on Titan has finally concluded and it has been one hell of an emotional journey. Having followed this series for almost 6 years, seeing it come to a close was really bittersweet.
This episode starts right where we left off. The corps is fighting off against Eren's founding titan, blows are being traded. If I'm being totally honest, this fight scene looked incredibly clean.
Animation: The animation in aot has always been S tier. Yes there is cgi used at times but it actually is very well incorporated into the show as is used quite smoothly, making action sequences look crisp and fluid. 10/10
OST: The OST in AOT is always S tier. Sawano teaming up with Kohta Yamamoto was the dream team, and I guess they cooked some more. Plus, it doesn't hurt to reuse some old OSTs. I really liked when they brought back "Barricades" in the previous special. 10/10
Voice acting: The voice acting in AOT has always been S tier. Marina Inuoe did a perfect job representing and expressing Armin's frustration, and Yuki Kaji's performance during Eren's breakdown was absolutely impeccable. Beautiful stuff. 10/10
OP/ED: Definitely not my favorite pair of op/ed. It doesn't olay during the actual ep, but I listened to them right after. The op is by linked horizon, but both the chorus and verse feel very discombobulated, and this op was a step down to their previous ops. The ed is by Ai Higuchi, and while I certainly prefer the ed over the op, its still no Akuma no Ko. Maybe my expectations were too high. 7/10
Ending: This is the weakest part imo. Even though this is a flawless adaptation, this does not change the fact that it is adapting an ending that is decent at best. I could bring up numerous issues with the ending, like how the Historia stuff was handled extremely poorly, or talk about how Eren killed his mom for no reason, or bring up the WHOLE shenanigans with Mikasa's character, how she pretty much was a slave to Eren all her life even after his death. Or we can talk about how Eren turned into a pathetic cuck just because he realized a little too late that killing the entire world's population was wrong and he just wanted some nice, comfy pussy all along..... Yeah. The ending has a lot of issues. And I mean a LOT. I could literally spend all day ranting about it but I think u guys get the point here. Because of the rushed ending, there were a numerous amount of plot holes as well as loose threads that remained unresolved. Not to mention that a lot of characters did not get fleshed out properly and get their proper development and characterization (like how they just timeskipped with Historia and rendered her useless post season 3). I'm not going to act like the ending was trash, because it did have some good points, but it was far from great. 6/10
Overall enjoyment: Despite my criticisms, I REALLY enjoyed this special. As I mentioned earlier, I think MAPPA have done an absolute perfect job at adapting this series and I'm really grateful for that. Sadly, what they adapted was a mediocre ending. If the adaptation was anything less than PERFECT, i would've rated this much lower. But it wasn't. So I'll give AOT final special an 8/10. I'm not your average bandwagonner claiming that it's #1 peak fiction. But I'm also not a standard hater. Overall I think it was an amazing adaptation, but i have to take off some points for the issues that come from the source material, since thats obviously what they adapted from.
AOT is a special series for me and even though i dont think its perfect it had a massive impact on the lives of myself and many others around the world. Have a nice day/evening and tatakae forever.

40/100SPOILERS - One of the worst endings I've had the displeasure of seeing.Continue on AniListLooking back on this a month later, this felt more like a review of all the seasons past s4. If you loved s4, you'll love this show. If you didnt love s4, but loved s1-3, you likely wont enjoy this show. However, reading back on this, being the person who liked s1-s3 but nothing after, I agree with everything I said, along with the score. However, I can understand if you dont agree.
__My review after watching the Attack On Titian S4 P3 P2__ Let me preface this by saying that I am a fan of Attack On Titian, and that I enjoyed season One, Two, and Three. And this review will not include anything manga related, as I have not read it, and this is an anime. However, and my opinion may change after the fact, and I may come to not agree with this, but in my current mindset, this is one of the worst endings to an anime I have had to see. Truthfully, this entire season, that being season four, was horrible, but this ending was in a class of its own.
My first of many gripes is with the plot, the story, the thing I came to watch this show about. With this, I truly believe this was not thought about for more than a day. I think the entire storyboard of this plot was made after a long night of drinking and they just rolled with it. I want to first start with the most annoying plot point of all the show, the catch all that stops you from pointing out the other dreadful plot points: Eren's ability to change the past, and to see the future. This is so fucking stupid. To introduce it for the first time in a scene from the s3 finale that most people forgot about, and to make the the most important plot point of the show? This is horrible. Words cannot describe how disappointment I am. And with this plot armor so think demon slayer wouldn't even dare to make, the show just says "oh I'm a little idiot, I'm a goof, thats why i couldn't find a way to avoid killing 80% of the world"? You have to be joking, this is awful. But besides that, the founder ymir as a character brought only horrible plot decisions, like they simply never explain why ymir was looking for mikasa besides she has the power to remove all titians, somehow? And why does mikasa have that power? We get it, she was a big part of the story, you dont need to make random plot points up just to make her an integral part of the story though.
And besides the paper-thin plot, the fights and animation is pretty cool i guess. Like if you wanted to see this show because cool odm gear and blood and slicing off heads, you got what you wanted. But no one is watching this show muted, we can all hear the absolutely horrible scene in the paths.
_When I say i had to pause and laugh when watching, believe me. This was supposed to be a sad part, but it was so comical I couldn't help myself_ This show turned from a balls to the walls, fight filled madness with a good story into a anime focused solely on story, not leaving much room for fights. Which I would had loved, if they did the story right. The issue isn't with the anime's plot armor, or the catch-alls, or the founder ymir, but just direction of the story. Hell, Demon Slayer has horrible problem of plot armor and they still do a season or two well enough. The only thing that went wrong is the plot, and when you base your whole show around that, its going to get bad reception. This ending to me seems like they saw the vision of eren being buried under the tree on the hill, and the rest of the side characters trying to mend the relations between both sides. And while creating this perfect ending, the destination, they tripped, they tumbled, and they bodged the journey, the season to get to the ending. Its horrible that it had to end this way. I wish it didn't.>
