Yuma and Hotaru have been friends since childhood. It is only natural that when Yuma is nervous about her new boyfriend, she asks Hotaru along with her boyfriend for a double date. But when Hotaru offers herself to Yuma as "practice," both girls realize that they're more interested in each other than they are in their own boyfriends.

90/100Are you still playing lesbian?Continue on AniListI entered with low expectations about this anime given the low overall score that the public threw but i really liked it, i appreciate the characters, history and animation, they are flawed and sometimes painful to watch, but they also progress as the story goes, and all of them end up with a better understanding of the situation and personal growth, as well as coming to terms with differences in views.
With parts that weren't always satisfying to watch is undervalued and totally misunderstood anime. A frustrating story but it makes sense because that's the premise. Even as it was painful, seeing the character meet or fail my expectations was what kept me cannot stopping watching.
The innocent Yuma and the seductive Hotaru, Takeda, an inexperienced and responsible boy and Fujiwara, a playboy, the story is reduced to these four characters in one complex spiral.
For me the most murky character is Hotaru, a psychological torturer, masochist and sadist at the same time, all in one but that you don't stop loving.
The key of the anime for I was watching someone deal with and break out of the tsunami of denials that internalized homophobia forces onto you. I do not often see the internal conflicts that can come with being gay, where you're fighting against your own subconscious attempts to reject a significant part of you like Hotaru's self-destructive tendencies or the heartbreaking thought processes you experience while in that Yuma mentality.
Sentences like "Are you still playing lesbian?" → "It's not a game" make the anime really strong and important, not making it the typical yuri in a fantasy world but entering into social criticism.
Unfortunately, that's the universe a lot of people live in. It seems that acceptance of the LGBT community isn't as widespread yet in Japan, so I think it's ok to portray such a community exists - especially since the characters ended up rebelling against that line of thinking (that girls can't be in a romantic relationship).
I loved how Yuma manages to overcome that and get a happy ending, that's all I wanted.
Definitely not a anime for everyone, but I'm glad I show it. I feel like people aren't giving it credit for having girl characters actually realize and admit they they are lesbians in a real world situation where they were dating boys to begin with or by believing that it is a simple yuri ecchi without fanservice and without depth.
The anime that concluded with 12 episodes with a 6-minute (without opening/ending) wasn't really NTR, but a realistic and complex yuri romance (after some entertaining angst!)

44/100When a straight couple is better than the main lesbian one in a yuri anime, it must mean something's wrong.Continue on AniListSometimes, I ask myself, "Why do you subject yourself to this? Do you really think that if you continue to watch bad anime, you'll eventually come to love bad anime?" Believe me when I say that I don't believe that will ever be the case; after all, trash is trash, even if it's yuri trash. The simple fact that it's yuri resulted in a particular anime being added to the list of anime I watched in the Summer 2017 season when it was announced; although I'm straight, I sometimes have a yuri thirst that I need to quench. Thus, if you ask me why I kept watching a netorare (cheating) anime such as this one I'm about to review, the answer is simple; it's yuri. The problem is, however, it's not even good yuri.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my review of "Netsuzou TRap".
Netsuzou TRap revolves around the relationship between Yuma and Hotaru, two best friends who both have boyfriends. In Yuma's case, she just started dating her boyfriend, Takeda; nervous about getting intimate with him, she turns to Hotaru for help. It was at this moment that Yuma realized she messed up, as this resulted in Hotaru kissing her as "practice". Of course, with a title like NTR, it wasn't just going to end there; even with their boyfriends being in the picture, Hotaru keeps "practicing" with Yuma, even though she constantly tells her to stop, even though it's clearly obvious that SHE WANTS IT. Thus, we get the heart-wrenching story of how one toxic relationship shatters all kinds of relationships, both friendships and romantic relationships! Yay! (Just kill me now.)
Now, let me get one thing clear; I don't like netorare or even the very idea of cheating. No matter the genders of the person you're cheating on and the person you're cheating with, it's still a relationship-breaker on both sides, as it results in the loss of an important aspect of a relationship - trust. With that out of the way, I will honestly say that the story of Netsuzou TRap is really bad, without a doubt. Cheating aside, everything within NTR's story feels fake; the actions and thoughts of these characters can be compared to plastic. However, for reasons I cannot even decipher myself, I was intrigued at the same time. Was it because it was yuri, or maybe I just wanted to see Fujiwara or nearly any other character get hit by a bus?
That last sentence actually transitions into the central issue with this anime, which is, of course, its characters. Yuma is pretty much an idiot who can't figure out her growing "feelings" for Hotaru, even though these "feelings" are so shoe-horned in that it just makes me want to slap myself. Hotaru is so much worse, and her actions make me believe that she's actually a succubus in disguise as a human; she constantly seduces Yuma to the point where she thinks she loves her. Their relationship, however, is even worse than the two of them as individual characters; as friends, they're pretty "meh", but everything about their "romantic" relationship is so abrupt and ultimately empty that I consider them to be the worst yuri couple I have ever seen.
There is one character who is worse on his own than Yuma and Hotaru together, and that is Hotaru's "boyfriend", Fujiwara. There is quite a long list of words I could use to describe this character (some of them being not so friendly), but I'm just going to use "manipulative", "heartless", "abusive", "misogynistic", and "unfaithful". Yes, you read that last word right; as if two cheaters wasn't enough, another one had to come into the picture and be even worse of a human being than the other two. With both Hotaru and Fujiwara being horrible human beings, it's clear exactly why they're dating, but that doesn't excuse their relationship also feeling false.
Luckily, the cast of this anime has one saving grace within, however minor this saving grace is, and his name is Takeda. One may compare him to a typical male protagonist in another romance anime, but in comparison to everyone else in this series, he is at least a decent human being; he's kind, sweet, and (for whatever reason) very caring towards Yuma. I even found his relationship with Yuma to be more believable than Yuma's relationship with Hotaru; heck, if Yuma wasn't cheating on Takeda behind his back, I believe that they could have been capable of having a rather healthy relationship! (Note: When you end up aiming for the protagonist of a YURI ANIME to end up with a guy instead, that yuri anime is doing a poor job at being one.) Unfortunately, it soon becomes clear that Takeda's only purpose in Netsuzou TRap is to constantly be lied to and eventually get his heart broken. What a shame, really.
With all of this being said, is there any other thing about Netsuzou TRap that is at least decent? Well, I guess I can say that the animation is rather lazy, but with this being a short anime from a studio with a not-so-impressive track record (Creators in Pack), this fact doesn't tick me off as much as it should. Let's see, what else.... Oh! Actually, the voice acting isn't too bad; each voice was a good fit for their character, with the best performance going to, surprisingly, Daisuke Ono as Fujiwara. (An impressive voice actor still doesn't excuse Fujiwara as a character, though.) I also didn't really hate the opening or ending themes, even though they don't really have much re-listen value to them.
Take this piece of advice that I'm about to give you; go watch Sakura Trick or Aoi Hana if you want a yuri anime to watch, or go watch School Days if you want an anime where the main character cheats on the person they're dating. What's that? You want both at the same time? FINE! Go watch Netsuzou TRap! Just know that if you ask your best friend for dating advice, you shouldn't let them seduce you instead!

50/100I have never felt such rage ever since Cat Planet Cuties.Continue on AniListIt's spoiler time! Choo choo! Strong language warning! If you dislike ungodly amounts of rage portrayed through text, [visit this review instead](https://anilist.co/review/9066). It's a good read as well!
Author's Note I am writing this at 04:41 AM on 07/26/2021.
In short: I hate this anime.I thought School Days was bad. I really did. I really, honestly, truly to god did. I was. I was so, so, so wrong. To those who enjoyed school days, I'm so sorry for thinking so brashly when there is something like this godforsaken essence of man out in the world.
By episode 6, I was hoping that there was some mistake in the production to where they accidentally made the intro 7 minutes long and the outro 2 minutes, just so I can get 9 minutes of rest to understand what sadist would ever want to see something like this happen to another being, regardless of their presence in reality or otherwise.
I am so sad.
You can tell that I really did not enjoy writing this review.
Similarly to how I really did not enjoy watching this anime.
The Actual Review Netsuzou Trap -NTR- is a romantic drama anime where there's cheating galore and boy oh boy, little bit of ecchi and a whole lot of yuri-ism. The plotline consists of four characters - one protagonist, one deuteragonist, and two side characters. The protagonist, Yuma Okazaki, is an indecisive girl who's trying to worm their way into the broad world of love, where the deuteragonist, Hotaru Mizushina, is a horny little devil that apparently has feelings for Yuma Okizaki, but there's a thick two-layer wall between them as they both have boyfriends.
Mizushina leads Okizaki through a whole world of stress and relationship issues as she plays with the heartstrings of the side characters - specificially Takeda, the most WHOLESOME character I've ever seen - and the strings of love that are intertwined between Okizaki and Takeda. This leads to a whole lot of rage and neverending fury - which isn't really present in the anime, but BOY OH BOY was it present in my FCUKIN SOUL.
With the synopsis out of the way, I can't stress this enough. I hate this anime. I hate this anime. I. Hate. This. Anime. I will say it over and over and over again; and it's not for the reason that one may think. It's because the storywriters did Takeda so, so, so bad it made me cry.
This anime's heterosexual romance is more intriguing than the focused homosexual romance - and it INFURIATES ME. I was so heartbroken over Takeda's feelings being toyed around by these two wraiths, and by episode four when he finally said "Somehow.. I have a feeling you don't like me that much," my heart finally broke - and that's when I realized I was more invested in the romance between Takeda and Yuma than I was with the petty romance between Yuma and Hotaru.
I'm not saying this because I dislike netorare. That alone would not sway my reviews - hell, I typically wouldn't review things negatively because it has tags I don't like, I bit the bullet, I can't complain. No, no, no, no, no. I'm saying I dislike this because they've somehow managed to completely screw up two opportunities for great stories where it could have easily been Yuma X Takeda or Yuma X Hotaru; with the latter being for the hornier folk like a certain furry friend of mine. I reckon the storywriters were in the studio and thought "This is a pretty nice story, how about we dash in a bit of NTR?" and then promptly proceeded to ruin the entire concoction.
I'm dead serious. This anime is a trap for casual yuri lovers like I. The name was not a joke, it was Vvvvery, very, very, VERY literal. Going into this, I thought "Eh, it's NTR. It can't be that bad, it's not even tagged as ADULT on AniList. This is a lesson to to the both of us: trust your gut instinct. If looks bad, it probably is bad. In this case, it was so bad, that when I got to episode 9 I started counting down the episodes so I can finally get some mental healing!
I decided to finish watching the rest. This part is now written at 07:04 AM on 07/06/2021. I have finished the entire anime, and I can gladly say that the ending feld so, extremely rushed that even after knowing that the main characters are now in a serious relationship, I didn't even feel any kind of happiness or relief from all of the strife being done with. I just felt sadness - sadness that I put myself through an hour and a half of terrible anime where I had full ability to drop; but I didn't.
I really wanted an ending where there was more time spent between Yuma and Hotaru - the entire eleven episodes prior built up to a whopping 2 minutes and 30 seconds of climax, of which 90% of was the ED. That really crushed my nads, absolutely blue-balled me. I wanted a treat that would bring me in just a teensy bit so I can praise this anime just a bit more.
But I can't; and that really hurts.
Man.
I also disliked the domestic violence. 'Nuff said.
I also really, really, REALLY hate Fujiwara. 'Nuff said. It's gotten so bad to the point where in Ep. 10 I became numb to the emotional scarring that Takeda goes through on a daily basis. i'm suffering.

I am crying so f*****g much.
I have never cried. Because an anime was so bad.
They had a good idea. They had good characters. And then they thought:
What if we put in some NTR?And that's when it became bad.
One of the people that's getting NTR'd is such a f*****g sweetheart man
He's genuinely a decent person
And then the girls are just f*****g behind his back
I feel so f*****g bad for this guy man
Words cannot express my sadness and disappointment
I am so utterly inconsolable to the point where I have genuinely lost all feelings of rage towards what may be around me.
That is absurd as I am constantly infuriated to no end all the time.
But, this moment has made me realize that I am not infuriated all of the time.
I am only infuriated most of the time.
Because when I'm not, something has made my life turn so utterly hopeless due to severely unfortunate circumstances; and in this case. It was because I've never seen someone get NTR'd so hard in my life.I am only on episode four.
There are twelve episodes.
I don't think I have the willpower to follow through with this anymore.
This is not my favorite anime.
This is not my most hated anime.
It is simply an anime that has explored my psyche in such a thorough fashion to where my soul has become worn and tired.
He doesn't deserve this pain.[video of takeda saying the thing]
I hate everyone in this anime except for him.
He is the only decent person.
My depression has set, and my rage has rekindled into an everlasting flame that burns ever-so-brightly.[censored lol i said some risky stuff here]
[censored lol i said some risky stuff here. wow im really vulgar]
[censored lol "Do not comment on fans of a work or detractors of a work, in either a positive or negative fashion."]
[censored lol "Do not comment on fans of a work or detractors of a work, in either a positive or negative fashion."]It would have been slightly acceptable for this to have happened to one that has mistreated one of the female leads, but to place this fate upon a character who has no ill intentions and wishes solely the best for those around him is abysmal.
I would rather watch the common shock media of the internet time and time again until the end of time before I would ever consider re-watching any of the episodes that I've consumed prior. My thoughts on everyone outside of Takeda is negative. Initially, I mistakenly believed that the protagonist, Yuma Okazaki, to be at minimum a decent person - only for my impression of that lady of the evening to steadily decline as the episodes progressed.
I am not a fan of domestic violence. As a matter of fact, there is domestic violence present in this anime, and throughout each and every occurrence I had to look away from my screen and pray for the scene to be cut and dry. However, I would not be against the fate being placed upon the deuteragonist, Hotaru Mizushina. The entire media's chronological progression is intertwined with the choices that Hotaru makes as she is the deuteragonist of the story. Instead of being a decent person, she goes ahead and makes moves towards the protagonist, leading for a circle of heartbreak - all of which could have avoided - brashly put - if she kept her p***y in her pants.
But alas, netorare is netorare. [censored lol i cant say stuff about genres]. I dare say that this could be the bottom of the barrel for netorare anime as a whole, despite there being copious amounts of the media out there. However, I believe that nothing will ever come close to the emotional stress that this anime has put me through. To those who participated in the fruition of this film; memento mori.
And now, I will continue consuming this media and I will post a review of the same calibre to AniList. My emotions must be heard.
I am tired. I don't even want to do some kind of post-review thing that I usually do. I was supposed to watch Magical Girl Site - which you should watch. I instead watched this. I regret everything.
Thank you for reading. Aishiteiru yo.
