70/100TLDR: Good series. Enjoyable with some weakpoints here and there but gets the message across. 7/10Continue on AniListThis is the story of a country bumpkin moving to the city, or in this case tokyo. She moves in with her uncle because of course this is a manga, her parents are unavailable (in this case in Germany). In tokyo she gains some new friends, falls in love, feels the pain of loss all that shit every japenese person that hasn't been isekaid yet goes through i believe. She's also stuck in between her quiet classmate who is considered mega hot, and her teacher who is slightly hotter cuz he has more of a pointier chin you see. So she needs to juggle these relationships as well as her new life and living in the city and all that stuff.
I quite enjoyed this series. It had a lot of style and pizazz you know. The characters were charming, the romance was enjoyable. The comedy was funny. I really like the ones where the female lead would be like damn im so shocked my artstyle changed. The meta-humor has always been my weakness.
The romance and the love triangle in this series was also quite enjoyable. It sort of falls a bit in quality near the middle part but i think it picks up again.
I also liked the bitchy character turned nice cuz the female lead is nice trope that occurred thing. It sorta reminds me of Kono oto tomare you know. Where personality can change to being kind without it being ridiculous or over the top. While at the same time being obvious but not overtly in your face. I really enjoyed how character development and character growth was handled in this series.
The friendship dynamic was also interesting. I liked how everyone else also had these romance going but didn't take a pointless amount of screen time either. I personally would've have liked more screen time though... just a little bit more but regardless overall its done well.
I don't find the art incredibly impressive either. I've seen people mention that the art is one of the best they've seen and I just can't seem to agree. It does look fantastic. But Its a far cry from what the best of the best should be.
TO SUMMARIZE. I think the series does a good job in introducing a new environment. Character development and Character growth was done pretty well as well. I think the series could use some work in the actual romance drama aspect. The whole love triangle was good but should've have been more dramatic. And though I enjoyed the ending reading other people's reviews it seems i might be in the minority here. So be warned.
In regards to love triangle drama. I think it would've have been better if it was more like Drowning Love but to be fair its pretty unfair to compare a series to something as good as Drowning Love, in fact i don't think i've read a manga that has a good love traingle since drowning love....
Also a bit of a funny thing. The series has bonus chapter which is a crossover between Daytime shooting star and Heroine Shikkaku which contains spoilers for Heroine Shikkaku. But the point is this shit was hillarious. They talk about how much 2chan was angry about the male lead because he was a teacher as such its illegal. In fact the entire family of the author didn't like that character and the editor didn't like it either lmfao. So yeah things like that was pretty fuckin' hilarious.

85/100The difference between Shishio and Mamura.Continue on AniListThe thing is that, when it came to Shishio, Yosano did actually love him and longed for him, but she was constantly battling with how to act around him and just wanted to truly get her feelings across. With Shishio, he did love Yosano as well and longed for her, but the other part of himself was battling between what was right and what was wrong as his duty was to be her guide and support as her teacher and that he was not in a position to be able to support her the way he and Yosano wanted to (in their complicated relationship). This was why, as Shishio battled between his desires vs his rationality, he was a big cause in the confusion and doubt that circled in Yosano's head. His way of going back and forth between avoiding her (to maintain their teacher and student relationship) and sticking close to her (his inner yearning) hurt Yosano and made her question whether or not he really had feelings for her. After he had lied and told her that he didn’t love her, she tried to move on and with Mamura and attempted to steer his way instead.
When it came to Mamura, even throughout knowing Yosano's complicated relationship with Shishio up until when they were actually dating (before finalization), Mamura didn't want Yosano to be hurt and just wanted her to be happy. Throughout their fake dating to their initial real dating, Yosano found herself seeking making Mamura happy (because seeing someone as cold like him smile could melt ME). However, Yosano had compared her feelings for Mamura with her feelings for Shishio and concluded that they could not be the same. In the end, Mamura had told her that he loved her, but he hated seeing her pretending to be okay and he even let her go after she found out Shishio had been hurt and she rushed to his side. But, although Yosano did love Shishio, she realized she wanted to cherish someone else now. Throughout her relationship with Mamura, she began to realize how her feelings somewhere along the way gradually changed. Mamura had supported her many times, especially when she was suffering over her relationship with Shishio. Not only that, but from the beginning, as Yosano found herself not knowing how to act in front of a complicated/torn Shishio, she found herself naturally being herself around Namura. Not only that, but being with Mamura taught Yosano the joy of making someone happy instead of her goal being to get her feelings across and to know the other person’s feelings.
With all that being said, MAMURA DAIKI SUPREMACY!
P.S. I might've known that Mamura was endgame before I read the manga, and I might not typically root for the second lead, yet when I had first met Mamura, he became my sole motivation to continue reading this toxic representation of an age gap relationship. Then, before I knew it, I had fallen in love with this story :)

67/100A controversial yet bittersweet romanceContinue on AniList✧ ✧ *Just a heads up: this review will contain spoilers as I will be navigating through the main character’s relationships throughout the entire manga* I will devide this review into **two** sections, because where the story starts to get faulty and have gaps is in the second part (hence the second section). The first one being from the start of the manga until the end of Shishio and Suzume's relationship. The second being from the end of Shishio and Suzume's relationship until the end of the manga. In both section i will be discussing the relationship between the main character and the two love interests. ✧ **1st part: ** From the very start of the manga, I was hooked. The story of Hirunaka no Ryuusei is one consisted of a handful of cliches (e.g.: country girl moves to the city, handsome love interest that 'hates' girls etc.), but that doesn't stop it from being interesting because of the way it is being handled. The comedy is overall great & the romance at all parts is very cute! From the first chapters we meet the primary, as it seems, love interest of Suzume (the main character), which is later revealed that is her homeroom teacher in high school. How controversial, right? Yes it is very controversial, but again, the whole situation was handled gracefully. The romance developed between the two was subtle, cute and above all else: pure. The struggle Shishio goes through because of his inner yearning for Suzume and the burden he bears due to his responsibility as her teacher becomes evident as they grow closer, but it is also apparent that most of the time he ends up succumbing to his longing for her, as we can see him getting (slightly) possessive and protective of her. The romantic moments between the two will get you all fuzzy and give you butterflies in the stomach. Their chemistry is truly undeniable and every chapter is enjoyable. I love how the story managed to stay pure and sweet while Shishio and Suzume's relationship was growing stronger. In my opinion, this part of the story contains every part that makes a shoujo romance good, in a sense. And that is: sweet oblivion, slight angst and cute & pure romantic moments. Along the way, Suzume makes plenty of friends, one being Mamura, the shy boy who claims to hate girls for whatever reason, but lets her in and ends up falling in love with her (and is also the second love interest). Mamura is her closest friends and it's evident that he also cares the most about her. He becomes aware of her relationship with Shishio and always tries to protect her from any potential harm this forbidden relationship could cause her; all while being in love with her. He remains in the sidelines and lets Suzume have her first love for the most part, putting his emotions aside, for the most part. And that's what makes him likeable. Setting his feelings for her aside because her happiness to him is more important than them. At one point, I thought Shishio and Suzume were endgame, but that assumption was almost immediately dropped as I and every reader got reality checked. He is *still* her teacher and she is *still* his student. And for one reason or another, these obstacles would be of course harder to surpass. As the reality check hits Shishio, he ends up dropping Suzume in a rather abrupt way. Throughout the whole story due to his inner dilemma we can see him getting hot and cold with her, with that reaching its climax with him cutting ties with her completely, and in a bit cruel way, stating that he never loved her. The ending of their relationship had me feeling all kind of negative emotions; which is great because the climax was indeed reached and was not poorly made. It would be a shame to see two people grow together and drop their relationship altogether like it was nothing important; because the majority of the story was those two developing feelings for one another. So far, we have two well developed love interests, an average main character, good quality romance and chemistry and a wide range of emotions, while also keeping everything as realistic as possible even though the themes the story deals with are, unrealistic. Extra points! ... But that's where it starts going downhill. ✧ **2nd part:** This is where the story starts getting faulty, and it really disappointed me. After Shishio callled of his relationship with Suzume, she decides to leave the city and return to the country side as she needed to escape from what had just occured. Shishio was her first love after all. So, because he was her first love, and because Shishio too loved her though he denied it because his responsibility as her teacher outdid his feelings for her, you'd expect that we'd see them grieve the ending of their relationship, right? You'd expect to see awkward moments between the two, both being in pain and grieving each others' absence, right? You'd expect that since Shishio was Suzume's first love - while being a teenager-, that she would have considerable trouble going through this unnamed and unlabeled breakup, right? Haha, **wrong**. So let's start off from where we initially left off. Suzume leaves town and returns to the country side in hopes of catching a break and reevaluating her feelings. But, her worried friends and uncle reach out and visit. During their visit there are moments shared between Mamura and Suzume, which bring Suzume to a realization. That Mamura has always been there for her from day 1 and that he cares for her deeply. That very fast brings her to another realization, that she has started developing feelings for him! Which is, very rational for the following reason: Suzume is in a very stressful mental state due to what has occurred with Shishio and she is easily influenced. And of course, after a break-up (or the ending of their relationship, because this wasn't exactly a break-up), it is very easy to develop feelings for someone else or should I say, be under the illusion that you are, because you feel the need to cling onto anyone willing to offer you the affection you initially had and now lost. So I liked this part, because it is realistic; if only it was left, at that. But as everyone returns to the city the relationship between Mamura and Suzume starts to get more serious. But, how? How was Suzume able to almost completely forget her first love over the course of DAYS? She came back to school, interacted with Shishio, but was somehow, okay, and... nonchalant? That's where the story lost me. Because I had spent the majority of the manga witnessing their feelings grow only to have everything almost utterly downgraded. You can't possible have the main trope reach a certain point only to have it so abruptly dropped. I understand why their relationship came to an end, but it was **necessary** to witness the aftermath as well. Overall, we didn't see Suzume grieve her first love, neither Shishio grieve his love. I expected uneasy interactions, hidden tears, painful smiles and above all else, feelings of regret. There was none of that; which was very disappointing given how much their relationship had progressed. If their relationship wasn't made to be so important; neither would this be so crucial. This contradiction was the reason this story lost me. Overall in this second part, Mamura develops a relationship with Suzume, while Shishio comes to the realization that he doesn't want to lose Suzume and makes desperate efforts to bring her back, announcing his love to her; but as expected it is too late. Which in my opinion is also realistic. Suzume and Shishio in the end could never work because Shishio mistreated her enough, due to his inner dilemma, to make him undeserving of her affection (that and the fact that he was her teacher of course). However, I am glad that we ended up seeing Shishio facing his true feelings, I think that was necessary to take place, else the story would have even more gaps in the end. Finally, the story ends with Mamura and Suzume together. *A rational ending; but badly executed. * ✧ And that's the end of my review. What really disappointed me was the gaps that appeared in the end. You can't have me witness the undeniable chemistry of the main trope and have them develop such strong feelings for each other for the majority of the manga only to drop it like it's nothing. That's a plot hole, in my humble opinion. Nonetheless, Hirunaka no Ryuusei is definitely worth reading. I read it in one-sitting and I'd even reread it in the future because the first part was good enough for me to overlook the second. While my rating is somewhat lower than I initially planned on, it is still a very good shoujo romance that people should get their hands on. ✧ ✧ Thank you for your time. I hope you enjoyed this manga more than I myself did! *note: I still get melancholic when I think of how Shishio and Suzume’s relationship ended*
