  Wait a minute... this isn't about Jesus

  Bible Black is an age old classic hentai that runs much longer than any hentai these days with a massive 6 episode saga not including the sequel. Considering it has such a long runtime, I had high expectations for this show in terms of its plot and character which it met and exceeded. Personally, Bible Black was must first excursion into occult themed erotica however that aspect of the show often felt a bit gimmicky and didn’t elevate the show by any measure however it never bogged the show down as the thematic dialogue and general premises of this aspect seemed well-thought out. Perhaps what confused me the most was cumming into Bible Black there felt like a general consensus that this hentai was rather infamous for vague reasons, so I was expecting something outright horrific given the cult theme of the show however I came out relatively unscathed and Bible Black never tested my mettle too harshly so for those trying to get into more fucked hentai Bible Black seems to be a decent rung on the ladder as you climb up to dive deep into the darker side of hentai.

  Story : 9

  As expected due to it’s 3 hour runtime, Bible Black has a compelling story filled with loads of intrigue that keeps you guessing as to what might be revealed next. Episode to episode, Bible Black had me hooked, especially the opening scene with the sacrificial ritual setting the tone for the rest of the show and progressively drawing you deeper and deeper into the cult rabbithole. Without spoiling much, Bible Black knows how to pace episodes and where to intersperse the sex scenes, resulting in a well-balanced show that set the bar high for the current generation of hentai. Personally the themes of Bible Black didn’t bother me much and although magic was included it wasn’t the focal point of the show and I will touch on that more in the character section.

  Art and Animation : 8.5

  I am a big fan of the older hentai artstyle that took itself much more seriously and reminiscences over a time when hentai was less regulated, talking about uncensored hentai. Although there are pros and cons to censored and uncensored hentai, it brings back a hit of nostalgia to the first few hentai I was exposed as the majority of hentai I watch nowadays are the newer releases with more modern art style such as Muchi Muchi Kyousei for example. It comes down to preference, however if you do enjoy that dated art style then Bible Black delivers in terms of artwork. Another quality of Bible Black that stands out among its contemporaries are the choice of size for the different naughty parts, where today’s hentai enjoy boobs that overshadow the body of the character or dicks so large you wonder how they fit in MC-kun’s pants, Bible Black shows overall restraint. Animation wise, the only gripe I’d have about hentai usually is the recycling of scenes or repetitive motions stretched out and repeated to save on the animation budget however I didn’t notice any quality drops in Bible Black.

  Characters : 8.5

  What I adore about a show that cares about more than sex is that when plot development is allowed space in the show, we get non-static characters that we see grow as the plot progresses. We notice the difference in their personalities and watch their morals being challenged, as a result we become more attached to the characters and wish to see how they will fare in the end, which is extremely necessary in a long-running show to retain the viewer’s attention. Of the characters, my favorites were MC-kun Taki and Kaori as we get to see them face the consequences of their desires, seeing the full-extent of what they wanted all along and how it shaped them. The show tackles ideas of love and lust with Taki, forcing the viewer to reconsider their personal definition of these ideas vicariously through Taki. This is not entirely a new dilemma, of the morality in manipulating another’s emotions through powers however this challenging of ideas is executed well. Another theme in this show is of desire for power which is mainly seen from Kaori’s point of view, how she suffered for a glimpse of power and ended up being subservient to another’s whims with that power she desired so badly. There is a somewhat decent depth to the characters and themes of this show which although not unheard of in hentai, it is still rare to see.

  Fucked-Upness-Meter : 6

  Imma be honest with you, this really wasn’t too bad. The rape was overall not too distasteful as the true terror of being bound and raped didn’t translate all too well to my own personal experience so I was rather indifferent to it. Regarding the sacrifices with the blood and the killing, it was never overtly brutal or graphic so it also didn’t bother me. So on a scale of 0-10, why does Bible Black still deserve at least a 6? One scene in particular is why. It has been a while since I’ve watched older hentai and Bible Black reminded me just how popular enemas were back in the day so it brought on some early trauma as I watched Takashiro-sensei being pumped like a balloon about to pop. That alone is all that you really have to be cautious about when watching Bible Black

  Conclusion

  Overall, Bible Black is an all-arounder with great moments both in the concepts of the sex scenes as well as in the story. One of my favorites being the nurse’s ability to grow a dick at will, adding a nice kick of spice to the show with the soft futanari touch. With its straightforward plot, Bible Black looked to be mediocre however the little details in the story as well as the superb character development puts it much higher up than I would’ve initially imagined. It also had well-thought out themes that it pulled off in unpackaging and exploring through the characters, which in turn felt as if asking the viewer to explore their own feelings and personal beliefs. A solid fap from an age old classic, Bible Black is a must watch for the veteran and the weeblet
