  A Manga That deserves More Talk

  Welcome to my review, I will make this a s spoiler free as possible. If I do type in a spoiler, I will tag it.

  Psyren, an unbelievably weird but enjoyable and cool shonen manga. Psyren started publication December of 2007 and ended September of 2010, just under 3 years. Psyren follows a high school boy called Ageha Yoshina. One day coming home late, he finds a red card with the text ‘’PSYREN’’ on it and a phone number on it. The next day he asks his school cult club and they say It’s an urban myth. The next day Ageha’s friend suddenly disappears from school, the only thing he found that belongs to her is her wallet, and inside was the same red card. Without thinking, he went to the park where he found the card and called the number in a phone booth. He got a lot of questions he had to answer, both public and private questions, until he suddenly got teleported to a waste land and where he found his friend.

  As I said in the summed up plot, the story is quite a mystery manga, and you learn a lot more what happens the more you read. During the read where you follow along Ageha’s journey you get introduced to funny, cool, menacing and just enjoyable characters. Each having cool abilities different to each other making the manga more and more interesting to read. The battles are not very long and it is very easy to read through. The mangaka’s art is very clear and clean and the paneling is very good which makes the pages look beautiful.

  While talking about powers and battles let’s talk a bit more about how the power system works in this manga. The power they use in this manga is called Psi, which every human has but never awakened, only those who are powerful enough? I know it sounds like a garbage power system but just hang on a little bit too, I thought it was weird too. Psi can be divided into three different categories which are the following: Enhance (Use Psi to enhance your physical powers), Blast (external usage of Psi to create powerful blasts or creatures) and lastly trance (use Psi to affect someone’s mental state). These categories are only the basics, because you’ll see the characters use these kind of Psi in very unique ways.

  The fights are also very good. Unlike most shonen manga’s, the MC always has to be in the fight, or be very connected to the fight, but in this case, there are a lot of fights that happen, that the mc has almost no connection too. This makes it interesting since you get to see both side characters and villains fight and you get to learn about them too.

  I don’t have anything much more to say and these are my last words of this review. Psyren is an awesome shonen manga, with cool fights, interesting characters with interesting moves and attacks, the settings in this manga is good and cool and just overall a really good and awesome manga to read. The series is very short so it shouldn’t take more than a week to finish it. It’s sad that Psyren Is not popular at all, Psyren has what it takes to become a good mainstream manga, and what it has to become a good anime, so please, check this manga around and spread these small media’s about Psyren if you like it and one day, we might even get an adaptation.
