90/100Plaything: My honest OPINIONContinue on AniListHonestly, I went into this expecting yet another typical manhwa. Y’know, the usual fighting, some overpowered main character, maybe a sprinkle of trauma, and boom—cookie-cutter plot. But something about the THIS caught my eye, so I figured, “Eh, why not?” Gave it a shot. A few chapters in and I was like, “Man, I was WRONG.” Not just wrong—WRONG wrong. Like, ten times wrong. (lol)
All jokes aside though, this manhwa turned out to be crazy good—like top tier, “why isn’t this more popular?” kinda good. I can’t recommend it enough. But okay—let me explain why you should actually read it.
If you’re tired of the same old recycled plots and you’re looking for something with actual depth, something that hits different, then you’ve gotta try this one. The story in its simplest form? It follows a father whose daughter, Lee Hyena, tragically dies because of insanely brutal bullying. And this isn’t just schoolyard name-calling—we’re talking full-on torment (Like forcing her to feed used cigarettes straight into her mouth, eventually causing stomach cancer, and still they didn't let go). The worst part? The bullies have connections—rich families, high status, y'know the type that think they’re untouchable. The dad knows that no matter how clear the evidence is, the legal system won’t bring him justice. So what does he do?
He adopts a psychopath. Yeah, you read that right—a cold-blooded, revenge-driven girl named Karma to carry out what he knows he legally can’t. Sounds intense? It is. But trust me, the more the story unfolds, the deeper it gets. You think you know where it’s headed, and then boom—the emotional gut punches keep coming.
And look, I’m not even the type who gets emotionally invested in characters like that. I mean, I’ve read a decent amount of manhwas and usually I’m just there for the entertainment. But this? This one hit me HARD. The only other time I felt this messed up was after was I Want To Eat Your Pancreas and Your Lie In April. That level of sadness? Yeah, it’s here too. The scenes where Hyena is getting bullied? Man, I almost shed tears. My blood was literally boiling with anger. It’s so painful but so well done that you can’t look away.
And when Karma starts delivering revenge? Oh my god, the satisfaction is REAL. But even then, I caught myself thinking, “Isn’t this a little too far?” But right when that thought pops up, the author hits you with more of Hyena’s backstory, more of the pain she endured, and suddenly? That revenge feels just right.
I swear, if you’re someone who loves watching justice served in the most cathartic way possible, this manhwa is your next obsession.
Also, quick heads-up—it’s not just non-stop violence. There are moments of calm, little wholesome scenes that remind you that the MC is still human. And how much the father loved his daughter yet his grief for not being aware she was bullied. And yeah, there’s a layer of business concepts, corporate themes, and social dynamics woven into the story too. So don’t go in expecting constant bloodshed—it balances intensity with emotional moments and clever writing.
And let me just say—I binged the entire first season in ONE DAY. That’s how hooked I was. I’m waiting all crazy for season 2. And the ending of Season 1? Bro. It left me smiling, broken, satisfied, and empty—all at once.
If you’ve read a lot of manhwa and you’re bored with the clichés, please give this one a chance. It’s different. It’s bold. It’ll punch you in the gut and still leave you asking for more.
and yh the titles fits perfectly for the story: A SENSE OF AMUSEMENT
