93/100A fun, albeit overdone, returnee story that manages to be fun and freshContinue on AniListThis might be one of my favorite awakened returnee manwha that I've read recently. There honestly isn't much at all that I can critique about it or point out as a flaw that I can think of off the top of my head. Slight spoilers ahead, but nothing extreme.
I guess I'll talk about the story first off, a dude gets warped away to a murim world (martial arts) and he essentially hax his way to the top of the totem pole in that world. Then boom, suddenly he's returned to his home and current self as nothing had ever happened that day. Since he's been in that world for thousands of years he needs to readjust to society and remember just about everything from his past life that he's forgotten about. Upon his return home, he finds he has an unexpected guest. His brother's teenage daughter!
This plays a significant role in the story and helps get the ball rolling for a bunch of other plot points but not a lot of actual time is spent on that aspect of things in the grand scheme of things. The story spends just the right amount of time on action, plot advancement, and character relations. There are plenty of cute wholesome interactions that are adorable and plenty of funny, entertaining interactions with a healthy dose of action and bad assery slapped into the mix. I enjoyed it thoroughly and read the entire first 52 chapters in one sitting on accident.
On top of it being such a binge-worthy story, I rarely come across a story where pretty much all the characters are likable and fun in their own ways. They aren't writing insanely outstanding in-depth side characters but compared to most other stories the author has clearly tried to breathe some amount of life into them. I really appreciate that effort that others seem to neglect and avoid.
The art for the story is pretty average when it comes to webtoons and manwha I won't lie but it's still very nice to look at and characters still come across as either cute, cool, or scary when needed. It does its job, and that's all that matters to me.
All in all, I really really enjoyed reading this story and I think it's already become something of a favorite of mine when it comes to this particular genre of manwha. It's cute, fun, cool, and manages to be interesting despite such a basic and generic plot.
on a personal enjoyment scale, 10/10 I love it!!
On a realistic, less circle jerky tier scale, I would rate this somewhere between a 7 or an 8/10. Somewhere in between but closer to 8 than the 7 ya know?
I hope this review helps convince people to read this manwha, It's not slept on as far as I can tell and has a dedicated fan base. I just want to point more readers towards it if I can. It certainly deserves it.

60/100Be for real, their relationship is weird.Continue on AniListTLDR; This isn't a bad story with magic and rift/dungeon/monster genre but 1) it's too much babysitting going on, and 2) the main relationship is immature at worst and inappropriate at best.
My likes:
The magic system and how he has powers from his "other life". I love stories about dungeons and hunters; especially if it has some kind of game dynamic. Leveling up, too. This story checks off a lot of boxes for me. It really does start off as an overpowered story about hunters and that isn't weird.
Seeing tough women is nice for a change and I actually like that a lot of female hunters are strong. His coworker is also strong and he is helping her to grow. I like the other female characters such as those in the strongest hunter's guild as well.
My dislikes:
For one, the "blushu blushu" vibe with the women is annoying and stereotypical. His coworker who likes him is constantly being swerved and everyone in the office just blushes and gossips about it instead of informing him (they know he is dense). The writing of male MCs who are dense and somehow 75% of the women they know like them is such a tired trope. Be fucking for real.
Second, I felt fatigued by how many childish characters there are - and then they add more. But the daughter is also very childish even though she is seventeen and training to be a hunter.
Third, I feel like the person who wrote this story (or at least put together the manhwa) doesn't know what normal dynamics between men and daughters is like.
What is weird about their relationship (MC who is 26 + 1000? years old) and his "daughter" (she is his niece and 17) is that they are too grown to be playing house. I understand that she wants a parental figure but it gets inappropriate when she is being visibly jealous of grown-ass women that have feelings for her "father" (uncle). She is acting like his wife and he also seems emotionally stunted because he can't tell how the women around him feel and it's apparently okay for her to literally do everything around the house and constantly need to know where he is.
Lastly, the disconnect between certain moments. For the longest, it seems like him hiding his identity is important, but then his strength is revealed anyway. There isn't really any news on this but he heads a VERY big event and somehow his coworker still thinks she has to protect him... It's little things that don't feel completely thought out like that and I tilt my head. I want to like the dragons and the kids, but they get SO much screen time when I want to know what is happening next in the dangerous part of the arc. The kids and the dragons feel like filler and are not believable.
In conclusion
I feel that this writer (and frankly, A LOT of male writers) can't be fucking for real and be normal about the relationships between older men and younger women (or, older girls, after all, they are still minors). This toes the line (you know which line) and I'm tired of that. I read this story because it was on the lists of people who recommend some dungeon-esque action without romance (another issue with male writing), but I wasn't expecting some daughter-wife fantasy vibe pretend daddy shit.
P.S.
About the weird-creep line being toed, I'm not exaggerating because when you pick up this pattern in manhwa and anime, you don't unsee it. If this triggers you, really think about how these dynamics are executed, and then think about what subliminal it sends.
